2022 Power of Community Gala

You are invited to join us at Humboldt Park Health's Eighth Annual Power of Community Gala on Thursday, June 16th, 2022, hosted at The Drake Hotel in Chicago. For the first time in two years, we will convene in person while enjoying a sit down dinner, live music, silent auction, paddle raise and more.

When Norwegian American Hospital was founded more than 125 years ago, its name reflected the community we served. In January 2021, the name changed to Humboldt Park Health – Advancing Health Equities. The transformative change that took place is a landmark event that signifies the rebirth of our legacy and affirms our commitment to improving health equity for everyone we serve within this community and beyond.

Our new name honors the community we serve today and into the future. This means that we are-and will continue to be committed to ensuring that members of our community have fair and just opportunities to be as healthy as possible. Advancing Health Equity requires that we do the work to remove the obstacles to health, such as poverty, systemic racism, discrimination, and their consequences.

As a safety-net hospital, Humboldt Park Health serves low-income and vulnerable residents in the community, including those with little or no insurance. We are a community anchor that improves health outcomes for ALL. Our patients have many chronic health issues, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, behavioral health disorders, and substance use; they also face major disparities in access to care and outcomes.

The success of Humboldt Park Health to deliver on its commitment to advance health equity is not possible without the support from dedicated partners, businesses, organizations, and friends who believe that the care Humboldt Park Health provides is key to leading a healthy life. Can we count on you!

Where will the Proceeds Go?

Proceeds from this year’s event will go towards purchasing the necessary equipment for the upcoming state of the art Wellness Center which will be the first of its kind in Humboldt Park. The creation of the facility will demonstrate how an anchor institution can transform a neighborhood from “transitional” to a Healthy Place, supporting the physical, mental, and social well-being of those who live, learn, and visit the Humboldt Park community.

The over 40,000 square foot Wellness Center facility will be built adjacent to the Humboldt Park Health campus. By addressing the wellbeing of our patients and community, not only will the Wellness Center improve their health, but it will also support positive outcomes for the individual and strengthen community bonds. The building will include a swimming pool, community room, mind and body studio, kids club and much more. We will provide programming to improve patient outcomes-medical fitness, nutritional counselling, disease management and prevention, physical therapy, and rehabilitative exercises. “A medically integrated center improves patient outcomes and gives community members the chance to engage in education, wellbeing activities and exercise, while building community bonds and positive relationship between the health system and the individual,” according to our visionary leader Mr. Jose Sanchez.

You can make a difference by joining business and community leaders who support our collaborative approach in ensuring that everyone has a fair opportunity to be as healthy and fit as possible. Allow us to be instrumental in enhancing your social equity credentials.
