Critical to the success of the Foundation is its Board of Directors.
Elizabeth Colón is a speaker, author and the CEO of Metaphrasis Language & Cultural Solutions, LLC, which provides translation and interpreting services across a variety of industries. Ms. Colón launched Metaphrasis with an idea and a bilingual skill set; she has grown the company into a forward thinking Chicago-based business. As a businesswoman and community activist she frequently receives recognition including a 2016 Woman of Influence by The Chicago Business Journal, 2015 Woman Business Owner of the Year by The National Association of Women Business Owners, 2014 Small Business Person of the Year by the Small Business Administration and 2013 Enterprising Woman of the year by Enterprising Women. She also co-authored the book Today’s Inspired Latinas: Life Stories of Success in the Face of Adversity.
Rochelle L. Turrisi, Esq.
Rochelle Turrisi is an associate attorney at Grupo REU Law Firm, LLC, a Chicago law firm that serves Cook and surrounding counties in immigration, family law, and estate planning. She received her juris doctor from DePaul University College of Law, and her undergraduate degree from Eureka College. Interested in advocating for social justice, Ms. Turrisi studied international, public interest and family law while attending DePaul. Her current practice focuses on improving the lives of families in turbulence in domestic relations matters, assisting with immigration proceedings and applications, and helping clients prepare for the future through careful estate planning.
Hester Kim is an influential civic leader and advocate in the Chicagoland community. In addition to her many years of leadership on the NAH Foundation Board, she devotes time to other public service and community organizations. Mrs. Kim has served as President and Board Chair of the Korean-American Medical Association of Chicago Women’s Auxiliary and as the senior advisory leader of the Chicago Somang Presbyterian Church. Additionally, her educational background consists of an MS in Biochemistry from Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul, Korea.
Jose Suarez is a highly successful risk management consultant and account executive with Assurance, a top-50 insurance brokerage, where he specializes in property and casualty insurance with a primary focus on assisting minority owned construction companies. Mr. Suarez began his career as a paralegal in immigration law, working primarily with the Latino community to help undocumented immigrants obtain legal status in the U.S. As a first-generation Latino with a strong connection to the Humboldt Park community and Norwegian American Hospital, Mr. Suarez also serves on the boards of the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association, the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement, the Residential Home Builders Alliance and Ensemble Español.
Evangeline De Leon
Evangeline De Leon is a prominent civic leader with a strong commitment to Norwegian American Hospital and many years of experience working in health care, specifically the home health care field. In addition to being an active participant in Foundation initiatives, Mrs. De Leon is a long-time member of the Philippine Medical Association of Chicago (PMAC), where she has led fundraising efforts for their medical missions.
